Dr. Steve Pennington and his wife, Trina, served as Assemblies of God World Missions missionaries in Africa for 34 years. Their ministry included service in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Togo, where they worked in theological education, leadership development, church planting, and ministry among unreached peoples. They also served in various leadership roles with AGWM and were part of the early development of Live Dead in Africa.
For six years, Dr. Pennington served as Vice Chancellor of the Pan-Africa Theological Seminary (PAThS) in Lomé, Togo, a doctoral-level training initiative of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance serving leaders from across the continent and beyond. Throughout their years of ministry, Steve and Trina invested deeply in leadership training and built lasting relationships across Africa.
Dr. Pennington holds a Bachelor of Arts in World Missions, a Master of Arts in Biblical Literature, and a PhD in Intercultural Studies from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Trina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Evangelism and Missions from Nelson University and a Master of Arts in Leadership and Christian Ministry from AGTS. Both are ordained ministers with the Assemblies of God.
Steve and Trina are the parents of three children and grandparents of five grandchildren, all of whom bring them great joy.
Dr. Nick Robertson has served with Assemblies of God World Missions for nearly 30 years, bringing over 35 years of ministry experience in both academic and cross-cultural contexts. His work reflects a deep heart for cross-cultural ministry and spiritual formation, shaped by decades of leadership in global missions and higher education.
Dr. Robertson holds a Doctor of Ministry in Pentecostal Leadership from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS). In his past two assignments, he served as Director of the Antioch Initiative at North Central University and Missionary-in-Residence at the University of Valley Forge.
He is passionate about building academic environments that prepare students for global ministry—spiritually, theologically, and practically.
Dr. Kenn DeShane began serving as a mentor to Global University graduate students in 1999 and has been an educator for over 30 years. Prior to serving as the Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. DeShane served as the Associate Dean of GU’s Graduate School and the Chair of General Education. He has an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and a B.A. from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He has served with AGWM since 2014. Prior to joining AGWM, he and his wife pastored First Assembly of God, Salem, Arkansas. He has also held a tenured position at Middle Tennessee State University and taught at Central Bible College for several years. He is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.
As an Assemblies of God world missionary since 2004, Kevin is no stranger to distance learning. Serving first in Spain from 2004–2009; before joining Global University in 2010, Kevin has a combined 19 years of experience in Christian higher education.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College, a Master of Divinity degree from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife, Annie, and sons Julian and Benjamin, as well as reading, biking, and playing sports.
Rev. Suzan Scott is a dedicated Assemblies of God World Missionary and proudly serves as the Executive Director of the School for Evangelism and Discipleship (SED) at Global University.
With over two decades of transformative missionary experience, Suzan and her husband, Dr. Doug Scott, have made significant contributions to the field. They began their journey in South Africa, where they served as faculty members, business administrators, construction project coordinators, and interim administrators of a Bible school.
After leaving South Africa, Suzan joined the Global University family, serving for several years as the Associate Dean for SED. In this role, she utilized her gifts and ministry skills to enhance evangelism and discipleship materials used worldwide.
Suzan has also worked with various departments within Global University on special projects, served as a teaching assistant and academic advisor for the Graduate School of Theology, and now holds the position of Executive Director for SED.
With a lifelong passion for evangelism, the School for Evangelism and Discipleship allows her to fulfill her calling to reach the lost.
In her free time, Suzan enjoys traveling and exploring the world with her husband, Doug, making jewelry, fellowshipping with friends and family, and participating in church activities.
