Students with a strong background in the English language and writing (e.g., a grade of “B” or higher in upper-level High School English) have the option to request an English competency exam. Those who pass the exam with a score of 80% or higher may substitute another General Education course for ENG1023.
Students who score a 79 percent or lower on the exam must choose one of the following options:
Enroll in an English course at another college or university and have the credits transferred to Global University.
The score for this exam is not printed in any location on the student’s transcript, and it is not calculated into his or her GPA.
The English Competency Exam may be taken online or in paper form; the exam fee for either option is $25.00 and is nonrefundable.
Students are permitted to take the exam only once. Once we have received the student’s Computer Competency Exam Request Form, we will contact the student for payment of the fee. Once payment has been made, we will either email the online exam instructions or mail the exam in paper form to the student.
