With gratitude to the Lord and a deep sense of expectancy for the future, the Board of Trustees of Global University is pleased to announce the election of Steve Pennington Ph.D. as the next President of Global University, effective April 1, 2026.
Dr. Steve brings a distinguished record of ministry, academic leadership, and Spirit-empowered service to this role. Dr. Steve and his wife, Trina, are career Assemblies of God World Missions missionaries with decades of experience serving across East Africa. Dr. Steve served in various leadership roles at Addis Ababa Bible College and East Africa School of Theology, both longstanding GU partner schools. He was appointed East Africa and Indian Ocean Basin area director in 2014, and in 2019, became vice-chancellor of Pan-Africa Theological Seminary — the Africa AG Alliance doctoral-level training initiative that draws students from across the continent and beyond. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to church planting among unreached peoples, pastoral training, and Spirit-empowered missional engagement.
The Board is confident that Dr. Steve will continue to advance Global University’s call to equip, disciple, and deploy Spirit-empowered leaders around the world. With a commitment to theological integrity, global missions, and innovative educational delivery, Dr. Steve is poised to lead the university into its next season of growth and global impact.
As we look to the future, we affirm our confidence that the Lord has prepared and called Dr. Steve for this moment in Global University’s story. We anticipate a fruitful partnership as the university continues to expand access to biblically grounded, Pentecostal education across the world.
On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, we extend our warmest welcome to Dr. Steve and Trina. We thank the Global University community for your continued prayers and support throughout this transition. Together, we remain committed to transforming lives through a global network of Spirit-empowered education and training.
