Hope in the Middle East

With all the terrible news coming out of the Middle East, we decided this was an appropriate time to share the good news that God is not limited by war or the schemes of man. Followers of Jesus Christ still proclaim around the world the redemptive message of His death and resurrection.

Joel Ellis, VP of Global Operations, recently traveled to Dubai and had the pleasure of meeting Aaron,* our new National Director for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Aaron is a businessman by trade who moved from Kenya to Dubai for work twenty-two years ago. After only six months in the area and as a result of the witness of believers there, Aaron and his family came to faith in Christ. They have remained faithful to the cause of the gospel in the UAE.

Aaron owns his own company and pastors an international church in Dubai made up of Filipinos, Indians, Nigerians, Romanians, South Africans, and Pakistanis. The diversity of his congregation may be surprising to some, but since Dubai is one of the wealthiest cities in the world, people travel there from every nation to work.

Aaron already has thirty students studying at two Global University training locations. The students are an extremely motivated and highly educated group of leaders employed in influential places throughout Dubai.

Aaron states about the impact Global is making in this Muslim country:

“You have no idea how GU is an answer to my prayers. I have searched so long for a biblically solid, academically sound, and completely portable school that would allow us to train our leaders without costing us a fortune. I wish I could do nothing but pastor my church and develop GU in Dubai. This has enormous potential to train leaders throughout the entirety of the UAE.”

When you listen to the news on your radio or see it scrolling across the bottom of your television screen and all you feel is fear and depression, remember this story and cling to this verse:

“I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39, KJV).
