Distance learning is an incredible opportunity. At Global University, our students are self-paced and can receive an accredited education from virtually anywhere in the world.
But distance learning can be challenging. Students must be disciplined and focused on learning at home and make an effort to stay connected to peers and instructors.
This can take a toll on your mental health, and today, we’d like to offer a few tips for how Christian students can stay mentally healthy during distance learning.
Find a Mentor
At Global University, we stress the importance of finding a mentor—an older student or instructor who has walked the path you are walking and can offer compassion and guidance.
When you feel stressed and doubtful, a caring mentor can remind you of God’s eternal love for you and encourage you to stay the course.
Connect With Peers
While it’s important to find a mentor, it’s equally important to stay connected to your peers who are on the same path as you.
Cultivating relationships with fellow students can help you learn more effectively and feel less alone on your journey.
Global University strongly encourages students to join a study group while enrolled in our courses to stay connected and receive support.
The most important way to stay mentally healthy during your studies is to lean on God, Scripture, and prayer. Many students have go-to verses in the Bible for when times get tough, and reading and contemplating Scripture can bring comfort.
1 Chronicles 16:11 asks us to “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his presence continually!”
It’s important to note that if you feel overwhelmed, severely depressed, or are considering self-harm, you should seek help from a professional counselor or mental health professional.
