Study Group FAQ's

What is a Study Group?

A Global University study group is sponsored by a local church or other approved group that has students enrolled in School for Evangelism and Discipleship, Berean School of the Bible, and/or undergraduate or graduate level courses. While students are enrolled through Global University, classes are held at the local church with a local facilitator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Study Groups

When you open a study group and provide students with an opportunity to study in a group setting, you and your students benefit in many ways.

  • You provide training for local church members to become potential future leaders in your church.
  • You provide students with an opportunity for accountability and motivation to continue their studies.
  • You provide guidance for students through courses of study prepared by competent, Spirit-filled writers who are recognized for their commitment, experience in ministry, and understanding of the Word of God.
  • You provide an occasion for students to share in stimulating and guided class discussions led by an approved facilitator.
  • You will have the use of an online Berean Study Group Portal that provides easy access to your students’ academic records and allows you to place orders for your group.
  • You will receive periodic newsletters and email updates on changes in courses and policies, including stories on other study groups and tips that have been successful in other groups as they become available.
  • You will receive a discount of 20% on individual course materials and tuition with no minimum order amount.
  • You will receive a discounted shipping/handling rate of approximately 7% of your total order ($10 minimum).

One 6-month extension is available for courses enrolled in prior to January 1, 2009. Re-enrollment is required if the course is not completed after the 6-month extension.

All study groups who are sponsored by an Assembly of God church receive automatic approval. The Agreement Form processing can take up to one week from the date it is received at Global University.

All study groups who are not sponsored by an Assembly of God church are required to have the local Assembly of God District Office’s approval. This process can take up to two months.

There is no charge for applying to be an authorized study group. In fact, Berean School of the Bible (BSB) Study Groups, and Undergraduate Study Groups receive a 20% discount on Tuition and Materials.

A facilitator is someone ideally from the local congregation who can guide the students through their course materials using prepared objectives, interactive questions, and other materials provided in the course. The facilitator need not have advanced degrees in theology, however having ministry or teaching experience will only enhance the learning experience for the students.

You may order an additional copy of the IST and the collateral reading text for your facilitator’s use. These materials are available for purchase at the 20% discount.

Also, most of the Berean courses have an Instructional Faciltator’s Manual (IFM) available for purchase.

You may place your order using any of the following methods (listed in order of preference). You will need to include your account name, account number, billing address, shipping address, materials to be ordered, and the students to enroll (names, and Student ID’s/or SS number)

You must pay your invoices within 30 days or you will no longer be eligible for the 20% discount.

Due to federal regulations, we are unable to discuss a student’s file with a third party without the student’s written consent. You will only be able to enroll a student, check on grades, request retakes, request diplomas, etc. once we have this form for the student. Once you have submitted the form, we will activate his/her BSB record for your viewing on-line as well.

An application form should be emailed (studygroups@globaluniversity.edu), faxed (417-862-0863), or mailed to Global University either before or with the student’s first course enrollment. Please be sure the student has signed the form and that your study group is indicated in the Permission to Release Records section.

A course that is still in progress may be transferred to another student in your group within the 6-month enrollment period. The student receiving the course will then have 6 months to complete it. Courses that have expired cannot be transferred to another student. All course transfer requests must be sent in writing. A course transfer fee is charged for each course that is being transferred from one student to another.

Final Grade Reports (FGRs) will be emailed to the student’s email address and a copy will be emailed to the primary study group email address on file. You can also access your BSB students’ FGR online through the Study Group Portal.

You may e-mail studygroups@globaluniversity.edu. Your question will be routed to the appropriate person for a response.
